Puerto Banus Marina

The fantastic Marina at Puerto Banus is one of Europe’s most exclusive harbours, lined with bars, restaurants and cafés.

Soak up the Hollywood ambiance from a nearby café and observe the rich and famous, or take a romantic stroll past the million dollar yachts. During summer, the atmosphere transforms at night with people filling the streets. Enjoy a meal at one of the various restaurants before hitting the bars and nightclubs.

Head to second line for a long night of partying, or relax in one of the quieter Piano Bars along the front, facing the Marina or dance the night away in a late night bar such as La Comedia or try one of the popular funky nightclubs, all within a few minutes walking distance. Clubs tend to stay open until the very early hours so make sure you can keep up the pace!

Estepona Tourist Market

(Sunday Morning) in the Marina - Gifts, leather work, watches, costume jewellery, arts and crafts, presents, novelties, music CD's and tapes.

TOWN MARKET
(Wednesday Morning) "El Rastro" held in the open ground on Avenida Juan Carlos. Good for fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes and house wares.

COVERED MARKET
(Mercado de Abastos). Daily am only. Held near the castle and the Plaza del Reloj. Good for fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. The industrial estate is located to the west to the town. To reach here take the signposted junction from the bypass. This is where you can find auto repairs, wood yards, furniture makers, printers, marble suppliers and builders merchants. To reach here from the centre of town, take Avenida Juan Carlos and turn left at the top by the BP petrol station.

Post Office
The main office is in the promenade near the centre of the old town. The collection of parcels and "Lista de Correos" you will find at the main office too.

Transport & Car Hire

BUSES
The bus station or "Portillo" is located Google Maps on the seafront to the west of the centre of town. There is a hourly stopping bus which runs east to San Pedro and Marbella. Another two hourly service runs west to Sabinillas, Guadiaro and La Linea (for Gibraltar). In addition, there are occasional services to the villages of Manilva and Casares.
Coaches go about every hour hour due west to Marbella, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, and Málaga (5.11 euros) and east to Algeciras. The first bus departs at about 07.00 and the last one about 21.00.
A local bus travels from the Segers urbanisation to the 2km to the west of the town, stopping at the bus station it then goes along the Seafront up to the Carrefour supermarket at the west entrance of the town. See the bus timetable page for Estepona

RAILWAY
There is no railway in Estepona. The nearest is Fuengirola 40km east along the coast or San Roque and Algeciras 40km west.
5km east of the town, just beyond the entrance to Estepona Golf at Bahia Dorada, observant motorists may have noticed a railway tunnel portal. This goes nowhere and belonged to the construction of a costal railway line that was halted by the Civil War in 1936.

CAR HIRE
There are a number of car hire companies in Estepona. These can be found around the town centre and there are also some in the Port.

Beaches

La Rada Beach
Right in the centre of Estepona and the towns most popular beach, La Rada Beach. It is quite expansive and backed by a modern sea front promenade for the entire length (2.6km). Chiringuitos (beach bars), are located throughout the seafront and serve traditional fare, such as paella and fresh sardines, or a choice of international-style dishes. The Marina is located at the west end of La Rada beach.

El Cristo Beach
Situated just outside the town, to the west of the Marina El Cristo beach is situated in a delightful sheltered cove, ideal for children, with two new chiringuitos. It's ideal location means longer hours of sunshine, making it a particular favourite for serious sunbathers. This beach has become increasingly popular in recent years and tends to get quite crowded on summer weekends. It has a good atmosphere with music playing at two of the beach bars.

El Padron Beach
Located a few km to the east of the town (km 159.5) and just to the east of the Rio Padron, near the Kempinski Resort Hotel. The beach has a large car park and two beach bars which means that it is particularly popular in the summer.

Quieter beaches can be found a few km to the east or west of the town. Try Playa del Castor just to the east, or Rio Castor at km 160.5. There is a track down to the beach from the main road, under the bridge and through the allotments. Even on a Sunday during the height of summer, chances are you will be alone. Don't forget to take the essentials: a good book and something to drink!

The Costa Natura
Spain's first purpose built naturist complex is located to the east of the town at km 151. The complex is for members only, but temporary membership is available for touring naturists and the uninhibited curious. The beach here is, of course, open to the public and is officially classified 'naturist'.

Estepona Marina

The Estepona Marina is situated at the west end of the seafront promenade. This is a very pleasant place for a stroll and there are some magnificent boats moored here. There are also a wide variety of excellent bars and restaurants, open both midday and in the evening while younger revelers can enjoy the late night disco bars. There is a popular tourist market here on a Sunday morning.

After midnight (especially in the summer season) the port comes alive. Numerous night clubs and discos seem to materialise from nowhere. Most of them cater for the young and energetic. Visitors will be amazed to see the very young and the very old dancing the traditional Andalucían Sevillana well into the early (and not so early) hours of the morning. Renaldo's on the corner is a favourite meeting place, 'Chico Diez' is one of the liveliest and 'Attico' the place to be at the moment.

See the Nightlife, Restaurant and Cafes and Bars section which includes the establishments in the Marina.

The fishing port is located to the west of the marina. Here you can watch the fishing boats land their catch. This can take place throughout the day, but is generally during the early morning, mid afternoon, and late at night. It is not possible to buy fish but you can watch the auction process (as long as you don't get in the way) which is followed by the covering of the fish pallets with ice and loading them into the insulated vans for distribution to local suppliers.

The large and small fishing boats are located in the fishing port adjacent (east) to the marina. Watch the catch landed, iced, sold and transported away. Notice the fisherman's lock - ups where they store materials, mend nets and have parties. Try the excellent fish restaurant here.
